The IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) standard delivers a better experience with more predictable performance for advanced applications such as 4K or 8K video, high-density and high-definition collaboration applications, completely wireless offices, and the IoT. Support for four spatial streams, multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) allows access points to divide spatial streams between client devices to maximize throughput.
A new power-saving mode called Target Wake Time (TWT) allows the client to remain asleep and wake up only at predefined times (targets) to exchange data with the access point. This provides significant energy savings for battery-powered devices, up to 3-4 times the savings achieved by 802.11n and 802.11ac.
